In 2023 KPCA, DPIRD and RDA Pilbara developed and delivered a collaborative project to facilitate opportunities for young leaders from Kimberley and Pilbara Pastoral Stations to enhance personal resilience, communication, and team leadership. The project delivered four events and was supported by the Northern Hub’s Learn the Lessons Program through funding from the Federal Drought Fund.
Two Practical Leadership Workshops held at Napier Downs & Yarrie Stations in July 2023, presented by renowned leadership coaches, Tammy Kruckow and Steve Burke provided the young leaders with a bespoke course with elements of self-discovery and team leadership including practical work in the cattle yard.
The KPCA’s annual Livestock Handling Cup was the venue for the third event, where Steve guided the young competitors through confidence instilling consultations as well as modelling and supporting their leadership and teamwork in the cattle yards.
The project culminated in a Leadership and Communications workshop in Broome in October 2023, building the confidence of young industry advocates using different mediums of communication and presenting to a variety of audiences including confidently speaking to the 220 strong crowd at the KPCA Conference.
